Paraplanners aim to ‘fix’ platforms - ‘warts and all’
Paraplanner Powwow chiefs have vowed to 'fix' platforms, as they revealed the next steps for their growing movement this afternoon.
As revealed on Financial Planning Today earlier this month, the national Powwow is set to continue, after doubts were raised about its future in September.
And Powwow founder Richard Allum CFPTM Chartered MCSI also revealed other plans to expand the activities connected with it. Read more here.
This afternoon, he told followers that he and fellow organisers “want to start fixing things” through the Powwow movement.
Mr Allum, a Chartered Wealth Manager, said: “When fixing platforms was raised in the Big Tent (the Powwow online forum), we thought, let's do this! Let's give the platforms something to do (or at least mull over) from Paraplanners.
“Fairly soon, we'll be asking you to share what you think about platforms, what would make your life easier. And then we'll share it with them. All of them. We won't be asking questions that tell them what they want to hear.
“This is a space for warts and all. That way we can begin fixing things. Or at least, help others to.”
Other plans include a monthly online Howwow training session, with the first taking place on February 22 from 1-2pm. There will be four face-to-face Howwows as well. The events are designed to help Paraplanners with their professional development.
Organisers want to hear from Paraplanners what subjects they want to focus on in the Howwows – with report writing currently a strong contender for one. A Powwow survey has been set up to find out more views.
Mr Allum stressed that despite growing, the Powwow “remains unwaveringly independent” and “steadfastly designed by Paraplanners for Paraplanners”
Mr Allum is stepping back as chief organiser for the national Powwow and told Paraplanners today that the event “really needs you!”.
He said: “We’re calling for volunteers to help make the day a success. From leading sessions, to hosting, to helping us to find good speakers, there are tons of ways you can help out.”
