Paraplanners Powwow coming to London for third time
Aspiring Paraplanners looking to take the step up from administration have been urged to hop on board the growing Paraplanners Powwow movement.
Details of the third Powwow Down South were announced this morning and organisers hope to see some new faces.
Seven Investment Management will host the event on 21 July in London.
Alan Gow, one of a trio of organisers, told Financial Planner Online: “It would be nice to get some people who are newer entrants to the industry or some who are taking the step up from the administration side to Paraplanning.”
A key topic lately for the Paraplanner community has been attracting fresh blood to the profession. Powwow founder and IFP board member Richard Allum CFPCM made this the focus of his opening speech at the IFP Paraplanning Conference in May. (See related articles beneath for more on this)

Mr Gow, co-owner of Argonaut Paraplanning, said there has been an ongoing discussion in the industry about how “how we can get Paraplanning out there as a career”.
While there may have been a focus on accountancy graduates previously the analytical skills required do not necessarily mean coming from a financial services background, he said.
Since starting up in 2013 various mini Powwows have sprung up around the country. Mr Gow and John Redmond APP have been organising the London events from the start.
Mr Gow said: “It’s really good to be involved in a small part of the Powwow movement and to have people come back time after time.
“We wanted to do another Powwow Down South, it’s been a little while since the last one and we wanted to squeeze one in before people go on their summer breaks when the schools break up.
"It’s really nice to see a core group of Paraplanners come every time and to know they are getting value from it.
"Nathan Fryer is now on board as an organiser and he brings more expertise to the group. It’s nice we’ve been able to consistently to have that size of group, to have 30 or so Paraplanners at each event, and also that we’ve been able to provide a forum for the topics they want to discuss.”
There are 30 places but tickets have been snapped up at a rapid rate since going live this morning.
There will be two discussion sessions on topics chosen by the attendees through a survey nearer the time.
Popular topics previously have included matters relating to the pension freedoms and length of suitability reports but debates could cover anything relevant for Paraplanners.
A discussion will take place at the end for guests to ask about any Paraplanning issues they would like to get a view on.
Afterwards there will be food and a chance to network and chat. The event will last three hours.
