Perspective snaps up 10th acquisition of 2022
Acquisitive Financial Planning group Perspective has completed its tenth acquisition of the year with the purchase of Goldwyns Wealth Management in Southend-on-Sea, Essex for an undisclosed sum.
The deal adds 225 households as clients and £70m in assets under management.
It also gives Perspective a new local office in south east Essex, bringing its total of offices across the country to 23.
Ian Wilkinson, chief executive of Perspective, which is based in Chorley, Lancs, said: "This latest acquisition extends our reach of local offices into Essex, complementing our long-established location at Braintree."
Goldwyns Wealth Management was established in 1989 and has operated under The Whitechurch Network since 2004. The firm has a close association with and shares the same office as Goldwyns Chartered Accountants.
Its client base extends from Southend-on-Sea and Chelmsford, to clients working in the City of London and beyond.
Alan Harding and Paul Golding, founders and directors of Goldwyns Wealth Management said: "Since we started looking at our succession plan some years ago, we have had discussions with many potential acquirers. Perspective stood out as a firm that really knows what it is doing and is clear about the type of firm it wishes to acquire."
They said their relationship with The Whitechurch Network has been excellent but it could not offer them a suitable way forward in terms of succession planning.
Mr Harding said: "The acquisition process has naturally at times been demanding, but from the beginning we have had real confidence that becoming part of Perspective would be the right way forward for us, and our clients and staff. We are pleased to be able to continue looking after our clients personally, while benefiting from the commercial and regulatory resources of a larger group.”
Mr Wilkinson welcomed Mr Harding and Mr Golding and their staff and said he was delighted to have given them a practical route forward so they can continue to advise their clients while planning for their futures.
Mr Wilkinson said: "We have our biggest ever pipeline of acquisitions both large and small over the next 18 months and relish the opportunity to grow Perspective at scale and pace. This latest acquisition is further evidence of our ability to implement our vision."
The Financial Planning group has made 55 acquisitions since its formation in 2008 and employs more than 280 staff.
The most recent were three adviser firms earlier this month: Esk Valley Financial Services (Redcar), Financial Planner Jeff Thurlbeck (Barnard Castle and Richmond areas of County Durham and North Yorkshire), and Paul J Flynn (Tuxford near Newark, Nottinghamshire).
In April it added Cambridgeshire-based Ramsey Financial for an undisclosed sum in April.
In March it added four firms: Searchlight Investments (Rickmansworth), Stafford Wealth Management (Hertford), TCS Life and Pensions (Oxford) and The MGroup Financial Services (Oxford).
Perspective made eight acquisitions in 2021 including Financial Planning firm St Lawrence in Kent, Chippenham-based Avon Financial Advisers, Prolific Financial Services in Cheshire, Evolve Financial Management in Kent, Bowman Financial Planning in Oxfordshire and Quantum Portfolio Management in Lancashire.
Perspective has expanded significantly over the last two and half years with help from capital provided by CBPE Capital LLP in December 2019.
