Sanlam launches advisory managed portfolio service
Sanlam Private Investments has launched an advisory managed portfolio service in response to investor demand.
The bespoke service will help people who want to be involved in the management of their investments but want guidance on stock selection and asset allocation.
It will sit between an advisory and a discretionary offering and each client will have a dedicated portfolio manager.
This manager will then look at issues such as risk and investment horizon and create a portfolio to meet clients' objectives. They will then monitor asset allocation and underlying investments on an ongoing basis.
The emphasis is on client communication, tailored reporting and adherence to benchmarks.

The minimum investment is £250,000 and there is a portfolio management fee of one per cent per annum plus VAT, custodian fees of 0.15 per cent per annum and dealing fees.
Andrew Lewis, senior advisory stockbroker at SPI, said: "This service offers the best of both worlds to clients who want a hands-on approach to running their portfolio but who would like access to strategic asset allocation models.
"We are finding that demand for this type of service is high as this approach is well suited to the current financial environment- one where markets can be volatile and prone to shocks. The dual attraction is that the client is absolutely in control of investment decisions yet still has all the benefits of having a portfolio manager involved."
