Nearly 30 partners and employees of wealth manager St James’s Place have completed a three-day trek to raise money for charity.

The 28-strong team completed the 50km trek across Basque Country in Northern Spain during a heatwave earlier this month.

They contended with 30 degree-plus heat and challenging mountainous terrain to raise funds for the 604 charities the St James’s Place Charitable Foundation has supported this year.

Josephine Blythe, senior partner at St James’s Place partner firm Josephine Blythe, said: “What a fabulous weekend on our Foundation trek. A common goal brought us together and we have come away with new friends, sore feet and some great memories.

"The value of these events is immense for our physical and mental wellbeing and to promote our spirit of the partnership.”

The funds raised from the trek will be matched £1 for £1 by St James’s Place, with the foundation pledging to give a further £6.4m over the next three years.

So far this year the St James’s Place Charitable Foundation has raised £6.14m. Some £4.7m has already been issued to charities supported by the foundation.

In 2022 the foundation supported 853 charities across the UK.
