St James’s Place helps keep businesses in the family
Wealth management firm St James's Place has extended its financial adviser training academy to the sons and daughters of current partners.
The new St James's Place Next Generation Academy offers the children of existing partners the opportunity to complete a two year intensive apprenticeship.
The scheme was launched following demand from partners who wanted their clients to benefit from the continuity created by bringing their children into the business.
Candidates become qualified to diploma level and will work with a mentor to gain experience.
Adrian Batchelor, director of St James's Place Academy, said: "St James's Place Partners are keen on the Next Generation Academy for two reasons. Firstly, they know how it works; there are over 40 St James's Place Partnerships that have successful family businesses.
"Secondly their clients appreciate the maintenance of a long-term relationship with their wealth manager or a member of their family.
"Often the partner's son or daughter will advise the client's son or daughter so the St James's Place relationship passes through generations.
"We are excited to begin this new venture parallel to the existing Academy to attract new and young talent to wealth management."
The St James's Place Academy received over 200 applications for just 20 places on its most recent course.
