Want to be a global Financial Planning chief? Roles up for grabs
A worldwide Financial Planning body is seeking two new board directors as it bids to establish it as a global profession.
The Financial Planning Standards Board, which has a network of 26 member organisations to develop, promote and enforce standards for over 170,000 CFP professionals worldwide, is appealing to planners in the UK and beyond to find the right candidates.
The FPSB, the owner of the international Certified Financial Planner certification program outside the United States, is calling for nominations for two open four-year positions on FPSB’s Board of Directors, beginning 1 April 2018.
FPSB Board Chairperson Pamela Packard said: “For our Board of Directors, FPSB is seeking global thinkers, people comfortable with changing business environments and developing new markets, and those who will add geographic diversity and complement existing Board skill sets and experiences.
“The FPSB Board and our member organizations are committed to serve the public interest by increasing access to competent and ethical financial advisers and financial planners globally, and partnering with like-minded organizations to establish Financial Planning as a global profession.”
To be considered, nominees for FPSB’s 2018 Board of Directors are required to:
· Be able to participate in English-language meetings
· Not be an office bearer with an FPSB member organization while sitting on the FPSB Board of Directors
In addition, to be considered for the Certified Financial Planner professional position on the 2018 Board of Directors, FPSB’s Nominating Committee will favour candidates with one or more of the following characteristics:
· Executive-level responsibility for budgets and profit & loss at global/multi-national firms
· Volunteer experience for an FPSB member organisation and/or FPSB, and whose nomination is acceptable to the member organization in the territory
· Leadership experience within an allied profession (e.g., accounting, law, investment analysis, etc.) at the national or international level

· Experience in development and delivery of financial education and training programs at the national or international level
FPSB will finalise its selection for the FPSB Board by February 2018.
