For 2014, a number of new features have been added, as well as information on seven free training seminars taking place across the country over the year.
One new area is 'Your experiences', which is updated regularly and features interviews with advisers with a view to establishing how they use investment trusts and other closed-ended investment companies in their recommendations to clients. Some have used investment companies for a long while, and other advisers are new to this area.

The AIC has also confirmed a series of free adviser training seminars around the country in 2014, which IFP members are invited to attend. Seminars will run between June and November, and will be held in Manchester, Bristol, London (City), Newcastle, Edinburgh, London (West End) and Birmingham. The AIC has also launched a new service to help advisers with new rules in relation to 'non mainstream pooled investments' (NMPIs), which determine which pooled investments they can recommend to ordinary retail clients in the future. This service will provide advisers with a list, updated monthly, of all the securities that the AIC's members have confirmed can be recommended to ordinary retail investors under the new rules. The vast majority of the AIC's members are unaffected by these rules.
