The blog, unveiled today, was first proposed at the Financial Planning Standard Board summit in 2010 with the aim of showcasing international perspectives on ethics, education, regulation and other topics of interest.
An editorial team is made up of members from Brazil, China, India, Korea, South America, the UK and the USA.
Editorial team members from the UK are IFP chief executive Nick Cann CFPCM, IFP president Marlene Shalton CFPCM and Martin Bamford CFPCM from Informed Choice.
Mr Bamford has posted one of the first blogs to appear on the site, entitled: ‘The State of the Financial Planning profession in the UK’.
Nick Cann said: “In my role I am very fortunate to spend time with Financial Planners at all stages of their career and other key stakeholders of the Financial Planning profession.
“Interpreting this information and best practice gives me the perspective to plan for the future and to improve the quality and quantity of CFP professionals in the UK to better serve the consumer.”
The other five debut articles on the site are ‘Financial Planning in India: Ready to Grow’, ‘CFP professionals can play a valuable role with voluntary social service’ from Korea, ‘Recognising and strengthening the profession’ from Brazil, ‘In the US, Financial Planning is better than ever but not yet a profession’ and ‘Financial Planning gaining momentum in South Africa’.
Readers can select articles by subject or by territory and the blog gives insights into how other countries are using Financial Planning.
It also has a feature called Certification Across Borders which gives information on becoming certified in different countries.
The blog hopes to develop awareness and recognition for Financial Planning as a distinct professional practice.
