PFS chief executive Keith Richards said the body was working with Unbiased after examples of wrongly listed Chartered firms were flagged up.
He said: “Where inaccuracies have been identified, we contacted the relevant firms, and the listings have been promptly corrected. We are currently working with Unbiased to review the use by individuals of the CII’s Chartered designations.”
This is not the first time the PFS has coordinated with Unbiased over such issues.
Mr Richards said: “Since 2014, the CII has undertaken three separate reviews, with assistance from Unbiased, to ensure the correct use of the CII’s designations by certain firms listed on the Unbiased adviser directory.”
He said: “From time to time we are notified about inconsistencies in the Unbiased directory and we deal with these on a case-by-case basis by contacting the relevant firm and requesting for the details to be corrected.”
“However, we do not validate the use of CII designations by every firm and individual listed in the Unbiased directory.
“The only adviser directory that we validate completely is our own yourmoney directory.”
