Eamonn Dorling, a Financial Planner at the Cambridgeshire firm, visited a nearby school in Peterborough to talk to students about Financial Planning.

The Year 8 pupils, aged 12-13, were taught about the basics of Financial Planning and how important it is to have a grip on their finances.

The talk corresponds with a campaign by money saving expert Martin Lewis to promote compulsory financial education for schoolchildren.

Tony Larkins CFP^CM, managing director and former East Midland branch chairman, said: “I believe that children should be taught the basics of Financial Planning at school. With that knowledge, it should help them secure a healthy financial future.

“Hopefully through our efforts this year we have helped a handful of children understand the true nature of Financial Planning in greater depth, while being able to provide some free, no jargon, straight forward advice to people of all ages to help them live the life they dream.”

As well as this, the firm sent out daily newsletters with free finance tips on budgeting, savings and retirement, debt, protection and creating a Financial Plan.

Paul Buckles, a senior Paraplanner at the firm, also gave a presentation on the new pension legislation - starting in 2012 - to several major charities.

Financial Planning Week 2011 was organised by the Institute of Financial Planning to help consumers gain more awareness of Financial Planning and improve their financial ‘fitness’.
