The annual Morningstar UK Fund Awards recognise the retail funds and fund groups that added the most value for investors within the context of their relevant peer group in the previous year and over longer time periods.
Morningstar selects the winners using a quantitative methodology and says eligible funds require a five-year performance track record. Weightings to one-, three-, and five-year performance are factored into the methodology along with a qualitative overlay.
Jonathan Miller, director of UK Manager Research for Morningstar, said: “These funds and fund houses have demonstrated their ability to earn strong risk-adjusted returns. When compared to peers, this year’s winners delivered strong results for investors in 2016 and over the past five years after taking risk into account.
“We advocate for the long-term view to investing, with a patient approach that can help to steer investors away from those costly timing mistakes that we see time and again.”
