Over 40% of Britons have three or more pension pots including their state pension.
Over a third of the 2,000 people surveyed (36.5%) by OnePoll and fintech firm mypensionID admitted to losing track of the pension pots they had contributed to.
Men were more likely to have multiple pension pots.
Almost one in five men (19%) said they had five or more pension pots, compared to less than one in 10 women (9.5%).
Despite not having worked for as long, under-24s were the age group most likely (48%) to have lost track of their pensions.
The age group most likely to have the highest number of pension pots was those aged between 35 and 44 years old. Almost one in five (18%) had five or more pensions.
Londoners were also more likely to have a larger number of pension pots than elsewhere in the country. Over one in five (22.5%) said they had five or more pensions.
Along with those living in the North East, Londoners were also the most likely to not know how many pension pots they had accumulated during their working lives.
