Aegon launches app to help advisers with pension reform
Aegon has launched its own mobile pension application to help advisers get to grips with pension reforms.
The application, available on the iPhone, iPad and iTouch, is designed to help financial advisers, employers and HR professionals keep up with the changes in the run-up to auto-enrolment being implemented in October 2012.
The app will be calendar-based with notes on specific dates highlighting key pension reform dates such as any reviews, consultations and implementation dates.
Users will have to select whether they are an adviser or employer and the content is then tailored to suit their needs.
It will also include Aegon’s opinion about events and suggestions on how to follow on from that event and prepare for the next.
Ross Jackson, head of workplace savings communication at Aegon, said: "In a multichannel marketing environment it's essential to tune into how your audience use technology and how they spend their time at work and home.
"Mobile devices are rapidly outgrowing the number of PCs and this enables us to support advisers and employers in a completely new way. We believe this app will make the pensions reform transition easier."
While currently only available on the Apple platform, it is possible it may be developed later for other platforms such as Android.
The pension reform planner app can be downloaded from the Apple application store and also through the Aegon pension reform website at http://pensionsreform.aegon.co.uk/app
This is the latest app to be offered by a financial services company.
Earlier this year Hargreaves Lansdown launched a mobile app which allows investors to view their investments and trade shares via iPhone and Android.
