The managing director of a Norfolk-based financial advisory has taken time out to be a volunteer at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, in Australia.
Carl Lamb, who runs Almary Green Investments, based in Norwich, is a regular visitor Down Under.
The Chartered Financial Planner put his name forward to help at the Games and was “delighted” to be accepted.
With his armed forces background – he served as a fighter controller in the RAF before moving into financial services – he was selected to join the team responsible for security in the Athlete’s Village.
“I’m thrilled to be here at such a special event”, he said.
“The atmosphere in the Athlete’s Village is amazing and the excitement is building. This was on my ‘bucket list’ and I’m hugely proud to have been asked to volunteer out here in Australia.”
The Commonwealth Games sees more than 6,600 athletes and team officials in attendance at the Gold Coast venue over eleven days of sporting competition from 4 to 11 April.
