CII presents volunteers with awards for going 'the extra mile'
The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) will next week host its annual Volunteer Awards, which honour volunteers who it said have gone “the extra mile.”
Four volunteers’ achievements from around the country will be recognised part of the CII’s Network Conference 2024.
The award winners are Sally Blake, Kimberley Hallam (both from Insurance Institute of London), Julie Calvert from Liverpool, and Lisa Winter from Cardiff.
The volunteers have been recognised for their work within their local insurance institute or PFS regional committee, at national level across the wider CII Group, or within their own communities.
Sally Blake FCII, of the Insurance Institute of London will be handed the Exceptional Service Award. She played a leading role in bringing together 28 co-authors to produce the InsurTech – Digital Disruption and Innovation in Insurance publication. She is also a mentor for CII students and member of the Insurance Institute of London’s student engagement committee.
Julie Calvert FPFS, of the Insurance Institute of Liverpool will get a Distinguished Service Award. She has dedicated her efforts not only to the Institute’s council over many years, and as local president she has also been a key figure in integrating multiple facets of the insurance and financial service sectors within the region.
Kimberley Hallam ACII, of the Insurance Institute of London will also receive a Distinguished Service Award. She is being recognised for her work in leading the Institute young members’ committee. As well as delivering 15 member events in 2023, she was directly involved in the YMC Winter Ball, which raised £28,000 for charity.
Lisa Winter Dip CII, of the Insurance Institute of Cardiff will be the final recipient of a Distinguished Service Award this year. She has made significant achievements within the education space, not only with her own local institute where she has served as president, but also across the wider community.
Local Institutes and Regional Committees were invited to nominate individuals, who were then assessed by the CII’s Awards Panel.
Callum Beaton FCII, chair of the awards panel, said: “Volunteers are at the heart of the CII’s local institute and Personal Finance Society’s regional council offering around the UK, all playing a part in promoting and developing, learning and growing the professionalism of the insurance and financial services sectors. Our sector would be the poorer without the camaraderie and support of these volunteers in their communities.”
The recipients will be presented with their awards by the president and chair of the CII Group at the network conference, which takes place on 12 June in Cheshire.
