All eyes turn to Celtic Manor for IFP annual conference
In the latest Letter from Redcliff Street, Katherine Morgans, the IFP's Membership and Events Director, looks eagerly ahead to the IFP's biggest week of the year.
The IFP is doing more and more to recognise the leaders and excellence in the Financial Planning profession. One of the ways we do this is through IFP awards, the number of which has increased in recent years. All of our prestigious awards recognise the outstanding achievement of both firms and individuals alike.
As entries for the David Norton award have now closed, the judges are already reviewing submissions. New for 2014 is the CFPCM Professional of the Year Award, which is sponsored by Seven Investment Management. It's now open to entries until 20 June. All UK based CFP professionals are invited to enter, and subject their financial plan and technical knowledge to the ultimate scrutiny of our judging panel! Could you be the inaugural winner of this new award?

The Accredited Financial Planning FirmsTM 'Recognising Excellence' Award also opens to entries from 30 May. The award provides an outstanding opportunity for Accredited Firms to gain recognition and significantly enhanced reputation and standing for its brand amongst peers and consumers alike. Last year's winning firm was Paradigm Norton Financial Planning Ltd.
In a change to previous years, all IFP awards will be presented at the IFP Conference Gala Dinner on Tuesday 7 October.
The other awards presented include the David Norton 'Building Excellence' Award, Paraplanner of the Year Award which is sponsored by Parmenion, and the Jonathan Timms Memorial Prize which recognises the best financial plan to meet the CFPCM certification standards over the year. There's also the Branch Chairman of the Year award, the Tony Sellon 'Good Egg' Award for the individual judged to have contributed most to the success of the IFP over the year, and two conference exhibitor awards (for innovation and education).

There are a few other changes set for this year's annual conference, bookings for which are up on previous years so it's going to be another sell out. Conference will now officially start with a keynote session from Doug Carter on Monday 6 October at 2pm. Carter will help delegates increase effectiveness, efficiency and profitability. The other keynotes are Dr James Rouse, Shaa Wasmund and Royston Guest.
We've also got some of our keynotes doing optional, interactive workshop sessions so you can further benefit from their expertise. A number of other workshop sessions throughout the conference will enable delegates to really get their teeth into topics including managing your team made easy and business planning.
If you haven't booked in yet for the Financial Planning event of the year then you really should take a look at what's in store and book soon. The earlier you book, the more you save and the more likely you are get yourself a lovely room onsite at the Celtic Manor Resort. We'd love to see you there.
