SIPP provider Curtis Banks has paid tribute to its group communications director Greg Kingston who has died at the age of 47 in a holiday road accident.

Mr Kingston, a long time motor bike and motor sports enthusiast, went on holiday to the Alps as the lockdown restrictions eased but was tragically hit by a car on the way back to his hotel and died from injuries.

He joined Suffolk Life (now Curtis Banks) in 2007 and was a key part of the growing business.

He became group communications director in 2017 and was responsible for marketing, product management and governance and complaints management.

He was involved when Suffolk Life was acquired by Curtis Banks and led the rebranding and development of the business.

The company said his “enthusiasm and passion for life” were evident in everything he did from his colourful golfing trousers to the way he threw himself into charity Bake Off challenges and to supporting friends and colleagues.

Will Self, chief executive of Curtis Banks, said: “Greg was a true friend to many of us and a professional and charismatic colleague to us all. Greg made a huge contribution to the full integration of the Curtis Banks Group brand and proposition, making it the market leading organisation that it is today.

“Greg had many interests outside of work and he would often combine his love of travel with his passion for photography, Formula 1 and motorbikes. He was also a true family man and loved nothing more than walking with his wife Kat on the Norfolk beaches.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, to whom we express our deepest sympathy.”

Financial Planning Today editor Kevin O’Donnell said: “Greg was always a delight to meet, usually full of enthusiasm for his latest project and devout in his love of motorobikes. He had a fine sense of humour and was respected by many journalists for his deep knowledge and passion for communication.”

SIPPs veteran and Financial Planning Today columnist John Moret worked with Mr Kingston over a number of years. He said he was "devastated" to hear of the accident.

“I have very fond memories of our time working together at Suffolk Life and my thoughts are with all his colleagues at Curtis Banks and of course his family and friends to whom I send my sincere condolences. The Sipp industry has lost another one of its great advocates.”
