‘Dreadful year’ client rescued by Chartered planner’s cashflow plan
A Chartered Financial Planner who created his own cashflow modelling software has described how he used his expertise in this area to rescue the finances of a client who had been through a ‘dreadful year’.
When Ray Adams, founder of Niche IFA and CashCalc, heard from the client “he quickly realised that this was a case which required urgent attention”.
Writing for Financial Planning Today magazine, he explained: “In the space of only 12 months Susan went from financial stability to uncertainty as a result of events nobody could have foresaw.
“In less than a year Susan got divorced from her husband, was forced to buy her ex-husband out of the house, single-handedly take on the mortgage and look after their 14 year old son and was then made redundant by her employer.
“Essentially, her current situation was not sustainable and an alternative plan needed to be found.”

He said the cashflow plan had been key to straightening out her financial position.
He said: “Cashflow planning has become an industry hot topic of late with many people possessing many contrasting views. I however, as a Chartered Financial Planner who has built a cashflow modeller, have witnessed firsthand the benefits it can bring to the table.
“Financial uncertainty is an overwhelming situation for anyone to find themselves in and cashflow planning is the ideal tool to form the foundations for the advice you provide. The case of Susan Jenkins is the perfect example of how cashflow planning can be used to great effect.”
