Festival of Financial Planning gets 'Fintech Startup Café'
The Festival of Financial Planning in November will feature a “Fintech Startup Café”.
The Personal Finance Society has released more details today of its big event, at which 3,000 delegates are expected.
The body said the café, a partnership with DigitalWealthInsights.com, will include “silent disco elevator pitches and one-on-one meetings with interested delegates”.
It will provide emerging fintech organisations the opportunity to showcase the latest technology and innovation to guests.
Each exhibitor in the Café will be given 10 minutes to make an “elevator pitch” to sell the benefits of their proposition to the audience. Given all the other activity going on in the hall the audience will be given headphones so they can tune in to hear what the presenter is saying, cutting out the background noise.

The Cafe will form part of a central village green – a hive of activity featuring live music and entertainment, leisure and luxury brand exhibits, a VIP and media section, and a dedicated Festival Radio programme powered by Informed Choice’s Chartered Financial Planner Martin Bamford. Delegates will also have the opportunity to test drive the latest Tesla Model S.
Close to 2,000 delegates have already registered for the event, which will take place at the NEC Birmingham on 7th & 8th November.
Personal Finance Society chief executive Keith Richards said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with F&TRC to deliver the interactive Fintech Startup Cafe – the latest addition to our Festival, which will be true to its name in delivering delegates much more than the usual conference experience.”
“The Festival represents a completely new concept for the financial planning profession – a mix of insightful presentations from recent pension ministers, market experts and inspiration speakers, complemented by interactive leisure and entertainment side activities to keep delegates immersed in the Festival experience throughout both days of the event.”
