Financial adviser has been voted one of the top five business jobs in America, according to American newssite US News.
It was also ranked in the top 25 of jobs across all sectors.
The list ranked jobs by projected growth up to year 2020, employment prospects, average salary, job satisfaction and job prospects.
The title covered all types of financial advisers, including those working for large financial services firms, boutique advisory firms or self-employed advisers with their own businesses.
It forecast financial advice to be one of the fastest growing professions over the next decade with a growth rate of 32 per cent, particularly due to the high number of baby boomers retiring in the next few years.
Basic salaries for financial advisers started at $32,660 (£20,750) but had the potential to reach $166,400 (£105,700) for the top 10 percentile of advisers.
The average earnings for an adviser were $64,750 (£41,150).
In America, it is necessary for advisers to have a degree and it is highly recommended that advisers have the Certified Financial Planner designation and are a member of the Financial Planning Association.
There are currently more than 57,000 financial advisers in America who hold the CFP certification.
