Financial Planning Conference back as in-person event
The CISI’s 2021 Financial Planning Conference, one of the UK’s biggest Financial Planning events in the calendar, is set to return as a live, in-person event this year and is one of the first in-person financial events announced so far in 2021.
With conditional government plans in place to remove most pandemic restrictions after 21 June, the CISI says it aims to hold a full-scale, in-person live event in early October.
Last year the scheduled conference was cancelled and replaced with a virtual, two-day event.
The CISI says that if the pandemic situation worsens as the conference nears in October it has contingency plans to run a virtual event instead.
In the meantime the professional body, which runs the Certified Financial Planner designation, says it is full speed ahead with planning this year’s event which is due to take place at the home of Red Bull Racing’s Formula 1 cars at Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.
Sally Plant, CISI head of Financial Planning, said: “With the UK government plan in place to ease out of Covid restrictions and the vaccination bringing about much needed assurance, we are optimistic for an in-person conference at the spectacular home of Red Bull Racing.
“However, the recent events have taught us to be prepared for any eventuality. Therefore, while we work hard on creating a safe, secure, exciting face-to-face conference, we continue to monitor the pandemic and await government guidance. If necessary, we will be ready to move the conference online at short notice.”
The event will offer 20 expert speakers and 7 hours of CPD over 2 days. It starts on 5 October with an opportunity for delegates to explore the Red Bull Racing Factory. There will also be a bespoke Masterclass focusing on winning teams’ working strategies, revealing how Red Bull’s Formula 1 championship racing team succeed.
Following the 5 October Masterclass delegates will be able to network with other Financial Planning professionals and hear from start-ups and charities working in financial services.
The pre-conference dinner will provide networking opportunities during planned interactive entertainment, when the Financial Planning Award winners for 2021 will be announced.
On the second day, 6 October, the Conference includes plenary sessions and specialist streams. The streams will focus on business, clients and Financial Planning technical content. The full programme will be released shortly.
Ms Plant said: “This will be my first ever CISI Financial Planning Conference and I’m so excited to meet our Fantastic Planner community, and work with my colleagues to deliver the established conference with a few fresh twists, during this two-day experience.”
