Financial Planning Wales hit by cloning scam
Financial Planning Wales, a Chartered Financial Planner firm, has become the latest firm to face a cloning scam as the FCA warned that scammers are using fake details of the company to try to con people.
Chase de Vere, Smith & Williamson and Quilter have also recently faced clones of their firms.
The FCA said that fraudsters are using fake details of the genuine regulated firm to try to trick people and steal their money.
The so-called clone’ scam is becoming increasingly common with hundreds of firms now targeted each year, including a growing number of Financial Planning and wealth management firms.
This FCA authorised firm that fraudsters are claiming to work for has no association with the ‘clone firm’.
