Hoxton Wealth adds Financial Planner to UK team
Fast-growing international Financial Planning firm Hoxton Wealth has added Jordan Maxwell as a Financial Planner in its UK team.
He moved into Financial Planning after graduating with a degree in urban planning and development and working in Saudi Arabia.
He returned to the UK to work in the investment sector as investor relations manager as well as holding client adviser roles, before becoming a paraplanner.
Mr Maxwell said: “It wasn’t until my role as a paraplanner that I got to see the inner workings of a regulated Financial Planning firm and understand what goes into providing advice to clients. My role as paraplanner quickly progressed into Financial Planner once I had attained my Level 4 qualification and earned the confidence of my managers to deliver quality advice competently.”
He said he wants to position lifestyle planning more into his style of advice. “That means asking deeper questions to help clients achieve their ambitions. It’s one thing for a client to say ‘my goal is to retire early’ but I want to know why, and have them paint a picture for me what an early retirement would allow them to achieve. To me, that is true holistic advice.”
He said he also wants to encourage more people to seek financial advice. “There’s the perception that having an adviser is only for the mega-rich, which simply isn’t true. My time as an expat was one opportunity where I could have really benefitted from having an adviser. The earning potential was massive, and the lack of guidance led to some silly financial decisions if I’m being honest.”
Chris Ball, managing partner at Hoxton Wealth, said: “Jordan’s commitment to working with clients to achieve the best financial and lifestyle outcomes is aligned with our mission at Hoxton Wealth.”
UAE-based Hoxton has offices in the USA, Australia, South Africa and in Europe and is expanding in the UK. It was set up in 2018 by British expatriate Mr Ball, formerly of deVere Group. It employs 300 staff worldwide.
It was known as Hoxton Capital Management until it rebranded last August. The company said its new branding would help ensure that internationally-minded clients have a place alongside more domesticly-focused clients.
In June Hoxton acquired London and Southend IFA Devine Financial Management. In April, Hoxton acquired two UK-based Financial Planning firms, AUM Dudley-based Alpha Financial Services and Guildford-based Bartholomew Financial Planning.
