IFP launches Wayfinder brand for consumers
The Institute of Financial Planning has created a new consumer brand called Wayfinder to create greater awareness and highlight the benefits of Financial Planning.
The new consumer website www.financialplanning.org.uk/wayfinder provides tips, tools and resources to help consumers with their finances, whether or not they intend to take professional advice.
There are also short videos produced for key life stages such as young families, pre-retirement and retired where people would need Financial Planning advice.
For those seeking financial advice, the site has an improved search function which finds the nearest Accredited Financial Planning Firm or CFPCM professional.
The IFP has been working on promoting Financial Planning to consumers with Financial Planning Week. This is held in the last week of November and IFP members have appeared on TV and radio, in newspapers and held financial surgeries at their firms. However, the IFP has been considering how to have an impact all year round and said Wayfinder would be a brand for the long-term.
It has also updated its Facebook page with the Wayfinder brand and set up a YouTube channel.

Rebecca Taylor FIFP CFPCM, IFP President, said: "When it comes to consumers planning ahead for the future they really want for themselves and their families, I'm concerned that too many are still not taking appropriate action. Whilst in an ideal world all consumers would take professional advice, as a profession we need to engage collectively to help people of all ages to gain the knowledge and skills they need to manage their money more effectively and plan for their future. Success in this would be an ideal solution to the savings gap and I'm delighted that IFP is stepping up its activities to support consumer needs in this way."
Sue Whitbread, IFP communications director, said: "Wayfinder is an exciting new step forward for IFP, one that we'll be building on from here. For many years, IFP's annual Financial Planning Week campaigns have been very well received, but more needs to be done. We're looking forward to working together with our members and other stakeholders to encourage more consumers to take action when it comes to planning their finances - as well as highlighting the value of taking professional Financial Planning advice."
The IFP will be updating its members website too to align it with the Wayfinder site and both sites will be mobile-enabled.
