Investment chief leaves platform after 14 years at Parmenion
Investment platform Parmenion has said goodbye to its chief investment strategist, Simon Brett, who has retired after 14 years with the firm.
His departure represents the end of an era for the platform. Mr Brett joined the investment platform when it was a start-up in 2006 and became instrumental in its expansion and the development of the Parmenion Investment Management Team.
The team is now responsible for the discretionary management of the majority of Parmenion's £6.5bn assets under management for over 1,500 adviser firms.
The Parmenion Investment Management team recently underwent a structural reorganisation and is led by managing director Peter Dalgliesh.
The team also recently welcomed Mollie Thornton to focus on the ethical solutions and passive range. She joined from investment consulting firm Mercer where she was for ten years.
Mr Brett said: “I have had a long, fruitful and very eventful career. The ups have outweighed the inevitable downs and I have learnt some very valuable life lessons.
“My time at Parmenion has been particularly special for me. I’ve been involved in many mergers but Parmenion was about building something special and which could evolve over time. In my time here, I have watched a brilliant company grow and innovate. It’s a bit of contradiction but my last role before retirement has been driving the future for the investment and platform markets. And that has been exciting.
“I am however, looking forward to a well-deserved break, though I’ll be keeping an eye on Parmenion.”
Parmenion is part of Aberdeen Standard Investments, the asset management business of Standard Aberdeen. Aberdeen completed the acquisition of Parmenion in January 2016 as part of its strategy to capitalise on advancements in financial technology platforms.
