Legal firm Wildcat Law has applied for authorisation from the Financial Conduct Authority to offer independent financial advice to high net worth and mass affluent clients.
It plans to offer the IFA service alongside probate, family, commercial and property law services.
Wildcat Law was founded by married couple, barrister Tahina Akther and Chartered Wealth Manager David Robinson, who was formerly capability director at Coutts.
Mr Robinson's former roles include seven years at Aviva, and senior roles at St James’s Place and Chase de Vere.
The firm’s 10 staff currently all work remotely.
Mr Robinson plans to build a network of independent financial advisers and accountants to offer the advice service.
He is currently in talks with private equity firms about Wildcat’s expansion plans.
He said: “We have serious growth ambitions that are limited solely by how quickly we can build the support for our lawyers – we believe the model is highly scalable and are talking to private equity about how they could help us expand.”
