George Kinder, founder of the holistic life planning movement, has launched a global campaign to encourage institutions to embed fiduciary standards into all of their processes to put client and public interests first.

The Life Planning guru, who founded the US-based Kinder Institute which provides training around the world for Financial Planners, wants what he calls a Fiduciary In All Things (FIAT) standard included in all dealings by institutions with clients and customers.

Mr Kinder believes that only by putting customers first, and other concerns second, can organisations fully and properly serve clients and humanity.

Life planning is a holistic form of Financial Planning which stresses focus on a deep understanding of the client's life plans and ambitions before making financial recommendations.

The FIAT initiative is aimed at, “redefining trust and wisdom across all institutional sectors”, he said. 

The fiduciary financial standard is growing in the Financial Planning profession and some other areas but its support outside is patchy.

He defines FIAT as: “A Fiduciary standard of obligation is required for all institutions (corporate, non-profit, and governmental) to place the interests of all stakeholders, of truth, of humanity, democracy, and the living planet that sustains us, first above their own self-interest."

He said the initiative will build on ideas set out in his latest book, the Three Domains of Freedom. The book looks at how freedom in personal, societal, and spiritual domains can potentially lead to a "more humane world.”

In his invitation to a global webinar this week to launch the campaign, he said: “I am thrilled to share an exciting new chapter in my journey to inspire a more meaningful and trustworthy world.

Today, I’m proud to introduce Fiduciary In All Things - a transformative initiative that builds on my mission to place trust, integrity, and wisdom at the heart of every decision institutions make."

He will embark on a campaign of conference appearances, workshops, and keynote speaking engagements to explain more about his FIAT philosophy and ask others to join him and spread the message.
