Manchester is to host both the Personal Finance Society and CISI conferences for Financial Planners in October and November this year.

The CISI will host its Financial Planning Conference 2024 at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground on 15 and 16 October.

Conference sessions will include an integrity debate, advanced will and IHT planning, NHS pension planning, the application of practicalities of AI, and a deep drive into discovery and annual planning meetings.

Key note speakers include Nick Murray and Professor Steve Peters.

Mr Murray has been a financial services professional for more than 50 years and is among the industry’s most respected writers and speakers. He has written a number of books for financial advisors, the latest of which is ‘Nick Murray’s Scripts: What to Say and How to Say It’. His book for investors, ‘Simple Wealth, Inevitable Wealth’, has sold well over a quarter of a million copies.

Professor Peters has written four books including the bestselling self-help book of all time in the UK, 'The Chimp Paradox'. He is the CEO of Chimp Management and has been a consultant psychiatrist to over 20 Olympic and national sporting teams including Liverpool FC, British Cycling, GB Taekwondo, England Rugby and England Football.

On the evening of the 15 October there will also be a gala dinner to present the professional body’s Financial Planning Awards.

The CISI conference offers up to eight hours of CPD for delegates who attend both days.

The city will also host the Personal Finance Society’s PFS National Conference on 12 November at the Manchester Central Convention Complex.

The PFS’ ‘Rewired’ themed conference will focus on the blending between physical and digital in Financial Planning.

It will look at the needs of both traditional clients and digital natives, and what will be required in terms of propositions, infrastructure efficiencies, and new ways of communicating.

This year’s keynote speakers include Jason Bates and Iona Bain. Mr Bates is tech entrepreneur and co-founder of both Monzo and Starling banks. He runs a fintech consultancy and the FinTech Insider podcast, covering topics ranging from digital banking and consumer behaviour, to the future of blockchain and cryptocurrencies.

Iona Bain is founder of the Young Money blog and a voice for millennial money in the UK. Ms Bain is also BBC Morning Live's resident financial expert and an ambassador for both the National Numeracy and Young Scot and Future Asset charities.
