New PFS smartphone app designed to be one-stop-shop
The Personal Finance Society has created a new smartphone app designed to be a one-stop-shop for its thousands of members.
The application, made available last week, has been designed to support all PFS events in one place, allowing members to book forthcoming events or review past ones.
The app shows lists of speakers with profiles, interactive programmes, and details on sessions, sponsors, exhibitors and the venue.
PFS chief executive Keith Richards said: “The Personal Finance Society has developed and launched the PFS Events App to improve the event experience for the tens of thousands of members who attend our events each year.
“The app provides a completely interactive tool for our members, providing programming and support for upcoming events, historic attendance information and other functionalities including social media integration.
“We encourage all members to download the app as we feel it adds to the event experience which continues to evolve.
“As a core function, the app provides full support for members before, during and after each of our events. But it also has other capabilities, allowing members to better engage with presenters and other attendees, and providing networking and other professional development opportunities.”
Mr Richards said: “Earlier this year we developed an Events Charter, which drives us to deliver exceptional events that set the standards for others to follow. The launch of the app reflects the latest improvement we’ve made to our events.
“The app’s launch follows the introduction of our own in-house registration software earlier this year, which supports last-minute registrations, reduced waiting lists and higher levels of attendance.”
Members continue to demand new and alternative forms of communication, he said, with digital a “crucial part” of the PFS strategy.
Mr Richards said: “Particularly as the demographics of our member base continue to evolve, and a new generation of tech-savvy advisers enters the profession, it will become increasingly important for us to provide them with modern tools such as the new app.
“We acknowledge that our member base is diverse, and a large number of financial advisers prefer traditional forms of communication. We regularly communicate via email, phone and post, and will continue to ensure all of our members continue to engage with their professional body in any way they choose.
“So while we are adopting new technologies, we will not abandon traditional communication channels as they continue to be used by a large percentage of our membership base.”
The app can be downloaded for free on iPad, iPhone or Android smartphone from the Apple App Store or Google Play by typing PFS Events.
