Old Mutual Wealth recruits John Porteous to head new unit
Old Mutual Wealth, the business undergoing major changes ahead of a parent company split, has recruited a well known industry hand, Chartered Financial Planner John Porteous, for the newly-created role of retail customer solutions director.
He will be responsible for setting up the retail customer solutions team, which the company says will play a central role in Old Mutual Wealth’s strategy.
The retail customer solutions team will work across the business units within Old Mutual Wealth to ensure that its proposition delivers good outcomes and ‘superior’ customer experience, particularly where advisers and customers access multiple parts of the Old Mutual Wealth proposition.
Mr Porteous joins Old Mutual Wealth with wide industry experience and expertise in the Financial Planning, platform and wealth management sectors, most recently as Tilney's head of client proposition. He has also worked for Towry and Baker Tilly.
His professional qualifications include Chartered and Certified Financial Planner status. He is a Fellow of the CISI and holder of the IMC. He has been a regular speaker at industry events and is a former Chairman of the Society of Financial Advisers which later went on to form part of the PFS. He is a past director of the Institute of Financial Planning.
Mr Porteous said: “I’m delighted to be joining Old Mutual Wealth at such an exciting time for the business, as it prepares for its proposed listing in 2018. It is extremely exciting for me to have the opportunity to be part of that journey and help shape the customer experience though our end-to-end wealth management solutions.”
Paul Feeney, chief executive of Old Mutual Wealth, said: “John joins us to focus on enhancing the experience and outcomes for those customers who choose to access multiple parts of our proposition, and his appointment adds significant expertise and experience to our business at a crucial stage in our evolution.”
