Paraplanner Powwow 2017 sells out
The annual Paraplanners’ Powwow - the ‘unconference’ for Paraplanners held in teepees - has sold out and a waitlist has been set up.
The event, the fifth Powwow, is set to take place in the Northants countryside next week on 14 Sept with 80 Paraplanners and another 15-20 expert speakers and other guests taking part, nearly 100 attendees in total.
This year’s new host for the event is Caroline Stuart FPFS, a Chartered Financial Planner and head of technical at Financial Planning firm DB Wood in Newark. She has taken over as host from Paraplanner Richard Allum who continues to work with a team of volunteers, including Caroline, to organise the event he founded over five years ago.
Highlights this year will include investment expert Justin Urquhart Stewart, co-founder of 7IM, who is the ‘Powwow Guru’ speaker, a tax ‘hackathon’ with James Hay’s Neil MacGillivray and many other expert speakers. The topics and themes for the event are decided in advance by the Paraplanners attending.
This year will see sessions on report writing, how to influence your own company, compliance, teach-ins and other topics relevant to Paraplanning. There will also be the Powwow favourites including camp fire debates and get togethers and attendees can wear warpaint, a Powwow tradition. The event is due to start with a ‘Chowwow meal’ on the evening before the event.
The Powwow concept has developed into a series of events of varying sizes throughout the UK including physical and online events.
Powwow host Caroline Stuart said she was “thrilled” the Powwow had sold out. Read more of Caroline’s comments on what’s coming up at Powwow on Financial Planning Today here.
