Pension Awareness campaign goes virtual for 2020
The Pension Geeks have had to ditch their big blue bus touring the country in favour of an online campaign but will still launch Pension Awareness Live on Monday.
The annual event, to raise awareness of pensions and the importance of retirement saving, will feature a team of pensions experts between 14-18 September.
Pension Geeks says the event will offer “meaningful help and guidance” to members of the public and workplaces, in the form of webinars and 1-2-1 guidance sessions.
NOW: Pensions is backing the event as a partner sponsor and other providers and bodies – including Royal London and Aegon - are also backing the event, being run for the seventh consecutive year.
The week will include Pension Awareness Day which takes place on 15 September annually.
Among the supporters are NOW: Pensions, the Department for Work and Pensions, The Money and Pensions Service, The Pension Protection Fund and The Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
The virtual platform will resources such as videos, blogs and helpful tips.
The webinar topics will include subject such as: Where do I start with a pension? Am I saving enough? How can I take my money? And Pension Scams, to name just a few.
Jonathan Bland, ‘head geek’ at Pension Geeks, said: “We love being out on the road with our double decker bus, or with our camper van, but the global pandemic has presented new challenges for everyone this year and the uncertainty it brings has a particular impact on finances - so there’s an even greater need for us to help people with their pensions and with wider money topics.
“Our virtual event will also enable us to reach people in multiple locations around the UK that our roadshows might not have made it to.”
“I’d encourage everyone to utilise our platform. We know pensions can be a minefield, so we’ve united the industry to come together and offer this practical help.”
