Quilter Cheviot makes new investment hires in the north
Investment management firm, Quilter Cheviot, has appointed two investment managers to support the upcoming opening of a new Leeds office.
Andrew Wilson and Adam Baillie have both joined the business from Brooks Macdonald.
The Leeds office will be headed up by executive director, Fraser Wilkinson who is currently based in Quilter Cheviot’s Liverpool office.
Having joined the firm in 2011 as a founding member of Cheviot’s North West team, he started his career at Yorkshire Bank’s investment management unit which was subsequently sold to Tilney.
Andrew Wilson was previously head of Brooks Macdonald’s York office, having opened the office in 2012, and has built strong relationships with financial advisers and private clients in the region.
Adam Baillie has 15 years’ experience in the profession, having spent the last four with Brooks Macdonald in York; prior to that he worked at Investec and Rensburg Sheppards in Leeds.
While in Manchester, Neil Anderson joins Quilter Cheviot as an investment manager; having previously worked at Brewin Dolphin, Barclays and more recently at Close Brothers.
Having already established teams in Manchester and Liverpool, the opening of Quilter Cheviot’s office in Leeds was described by the firm as “a major milestone in bolstering the firm’s presence in the north of England”.
The Leeds office will become the fourteenth location in the organisation’s regional network which spans across the UK, Ireland, Jersey and Dubai.
Quilter Cheviot’s chief executive, Andrew McGlone, said: “We are extremely proud of our regional presence and continuously look for the right opportunities to expand our reach as we know many clients prefer to meet with an investment team locally.
“Leeds has been on our radar for a while; it is home to some of the North of England’s most successful companies and has a thriving business culture.
“Having put the start of a team in place, we are now in a strong position to develop relationships with financial advisers as well as clients and their families at a local level. ”
He added: “I am really pleased that Neil, Andrew and Adam have joined our team and I would like to thank Fraser for his commitment to supporting this new venture in an area he knows well.
“We are on a growth trajectory and I look forward to continuing to build the investment team in this exciting phase of development for Quilter Cheviot.”
The appointments followed shortly after Quilter Cheviot’s recent investment hires from Brooks Macdonald; investment managers Jennifer Innes and Richard Wayne-Wynne joined the Edinburgh and London investment teams respectively.
In addition to these five hires, to date this year Quilter Cheviot has also recruited Lawrence Cotton, James Hughes and Nick Lamb from WH Ireland; Andrew Jones from Royal Bank of Canada; Andy Smillie from Tilney Investment Management; Lorraine Antypova from Blankstone Sington; Thomas Lovell from Rathbones; Martin Andrews from GHC Capital Markets and Daniel Schieber from Charles Stanley.
The firm says it is in the process of “securing premium office space in Leeds city centre and until such a time both Adam Baillie and Andrew Wilson will work from the company’s current office network”.
