The draft was published earlier this month and covers what will be included in financial education classes for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils from September 2014.
The curriculum was formulated by the Department for Education and Personal Financial Education Group (pfeg).
The content is:
Key Stage 3
- Functions and uses of money
- Personal budgeting
- Managing risk
- Income and expenditure
- Credit and debt
- Insurance
- Savings
- Pensions
The IFP is a keen supporter of financial education through its annual Financial Planning Week. During this week, Financial Planners are encouraged to visit schools and explain to pupils about finance. It also supports Bamzonia which is a technology firm that creates interactive tools to build financial confidence in school pupils.
