A Financial Planner is enduring temperatures of -30 degrees Celsius as he tries to make headway in his 222km trek to reach the South Pole.
Patrick McIntosh, 58, has overcome three types of cancer since 2012 and through the adventure, he hopes to raise £220,000 for charities helping sufferers.
IFP corporate member Aegon is supporting Mr McIntosh's challenge, which is being undertaken with a polar guide who helped Prince Harry.
Conrad Dickinson assisted the prince on 'Walking with the Wounded'.
Mr McIntosh is writing a web log of his adventure and on his latest post he reported: "Everything is good, we travelled 18.7km in 6.5 hours today (8 January) and we're travelling really well.
"The temperature is about -30 ºC. I get very cold hands when we stop to eat! It's a sunny clear day, though and everything is working.
"Conrad is annoyed because he's broken a jug and the zipper on his jacket, but the equipment is generally absolutely fine."
The pair completed a "very arduous" 12.5 km on Wednesday and aim to do the whole 222 km in 12 days.

Mr McIntosh, a director at KMG, is raising money for three charities - Bowel Cancer UK, Prostate Cancer UK, and The Voice of the Listener and Viewer. So far he has amassed over £50,000.
He said: "After my experience with cancer, I have realised the importance of early diagnosis in order to live a long and healthy life.
"I want to prove that it is possible to live a normal life after cancer...as long as we can all learn to recognise the signs and symptoms and therefore get diagnosed earlier.
"I have chosen to support three fantastic charities which do very important work contributing to this, as well as to reach as many people as possible via lectures and presentations.
"We aim to raise £222,000 - £1,000 for each kilometre).
